Information processing facilities are to be protected against power cuts and other disruption caused by failures of supporting utilities. Purpose (stated in ISO/IEC 27002:2022): prevents loss, compromise or interruption of operations caused by failure of supporting utilities. As an Annex A reference control, it is compared with the controls determined in risk treatment (6.1.3 c) and recorded in the Statement of Applicability as included or excluded, with the justification and implementation status (6.1.3 d); implementation guidance is ISO/IEC 27002:2022 7.11.

Common gaps an assessor flags
- Generators and UPS are not load-tested regularly
- Building management systems sit on the corporate network or are reachable from the internet
- A single power or telecom feed is a single point of failure
- Cooling capacity was not reviewed after adding equipment
How it maps to SOC 2
- A1.2 high Supporting utilities cover the power and cooling this criterion names.
